Job Description
Responsibilities:
- Work closely with senior engineers throughout the design and construction phases.
- Develop electrical system designs using Revit.
- Perform engineering evaluations to assess design alternatives and make recommendations.
- Assist in the planning and execution of electrical system designs for commercial, educational, healthcare, office, and industrial projects.
- Conduct engineering calculations to support electrical system planning.
- Design and circuit lighting, receptacles, HVAC, and various electrical equipment.
- Gain experience in lighting fixture placement and control systems.
- Learn and apply basic fire alarm schematic design principles.
- Conduct site visits to oversee installation and testing processes.
- Assist in the development of proposals, cost assessments, and equipment schedules.
- Identify and implement creative solutions to design challenges.
- Coordinate project scope, specifications, and deadlines with project managers and senior engineers.
- Review and process submittals, shop drawings, and respond to RFIs in a timely manner.
- Perform site assessments, feasibility studies, and create basis of design reports.
- Oversee tasks to ensure completion within set deadlines and budget constraints.
- Participate in project meetings, contributing to design and construction discussions.
- Collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams and maintain clear communication.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.
- Ensure compliance with applicable building codes, energy regulations, and LEED standards.
- Utilize a BIM environment for effective system integration and design execution.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
- Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification is a plus.
- Two to four years of experience in electrical design or a related discipline.
- In-depth understanding of codes, standards, and engineering/construction methodologies.
- Familiarity with state and local building codes, including NEC regulations.
- Proficiency in Revit and Autodesk BIM 360.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to identify and correct design inconsistencies.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Bluebeam, and other engineering analysis software.
- LEED Accreditation is highly desired
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to juggle multiple projects in a fast-paced work environment while meeting deadlines.
- May be tasked with lifting, carrying, pushing or pulling up to 25 lbs., if able to do so.
- Able to sit for prolonged periods of time and walk/stand for moderate periods of time.
- Able to bend at the knees and waist frequently
- Able to repetitively use a telephone and a computer mouse and keyboard.
