Principal Design Engineer - Storage System Architect

Albin Engineering Services, Inc. (www.aesi.com) is looking for a Principal Design Engineer for one of our premier clients. This is a full-time, direct hire remote position with our client. Candidates must have strong knowledge in server design, storage controllers and subsystems and implementation in Enterprise class systems and Cloud infrastructure. Job Responsibilities:

• Define Complex Storage/Server/Converged platform solutions and lead a multi-disciplined team to bring to implementation.  Extensive and focused engagement through EVT, phasing out thereafter.  Ensure overall design quality metrics are met.
• Develop and maintain close technical relationships with suppliers/partners on product roadmaps and technologies.
• Lead the RFQ technical response.
• Deliverables include System Requirements Documents (SRD), requirement compliance assessments, and Technical proposals.
• Act as a primary technical interface between our team and our customers, particularly in technical escalation.
• Provide technical support to business development teams to assist in the winning of new business.
• Participate in the selection and hiring of design team resources as required.
• Identify and Champion process improvement efforts as needed.
• Participate in standards committees and industry groups as assigned.
• Prepare and present technical presentations to customers, industry groups, tradeshows, etc.
• Maintain current on industry trends and future technology and market opportunities.

Job Requirements:

• BS in Electrical Engineering required; MSEE preferred.
• 15+ years server/storage hardware design experience.
• 8+ years of server/storage experience at the system level.
• Successful experience architecting and delivering server/storage/converged products to market.
• Excellent customer presentation skills. Interface and interact with large OEM and end user customers on ongoing product related issues and new product design concepts.
• A broad knowledge of current digital and analogue components.
• Successful New Product Introduction (NPI) launch.
• Extensive knowledge of system level power, cooling, mechanical, SW/FW and electrical design integration and engineering trade offs.
• Capable of working with a minimum of supervision in a dynamic team environment.  Good interpersonal skills: be able to communicate effectively with members of other teams, departments and clients; as a high degree of liaison is needed.
• International travel required, approximately 4-6 trips per year.
• Domestic travel to support customer and internal meetings as required.
